Steelers look to turn tables on Ravens
Nov 5, 2007 - 2:23 PM Baltimore (4-3) at Pittsburgh (5-2) Monday 8:30 pm EDTPITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Recent history has not been kind to the Pittsburgh Steelers against one of their AFC North rivals.
The Steelers will be out for revenge when they host the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.
Last season, the Ravens beat up on the Steelers, sweeping the season series in overpowering fashion, winning by scores of 27-0 and 31-7.
Baltimore's defense was dominant in the two games, registering 14 sacks and holding star running back Willie Parker to 22 and 29 yards, respectively.
The Steelers hope to turn the tables this season, starting with a little history of their own.
Pittsburgh is unbeaten in three home games this season, outscoring the opposition, 84-19, and the team is also 11-0 at home on Monday Night Football since 1992.
The Steelers are one shy of the NFL record for most consecutive home wins on Monday, held by the Oakland Raiders, who won 12 straight Monday night games from 1970-1985.
And in what promises to be an emotional night, the Steelers will don their throwback jerseys and honor their All-Time team in the franchise's 75th season.
Is there a better way to get stoked up for a hated rival?
"The feeling's mutual: They don't like us, and we don't like them," Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward said. "There's no need to hide it. They know it and we know it."
Ward had a pair of touchdown receptions in last weekend's 24-13 win at Cincinnati and is within two of tying John Stallworth (63) as the career franchise leader.
Parker had his sixth 100-yard game, rushing for 126 and a touchdown on 22 carries against the Bengals. Ben Roethlisberger extended his streak of throwing at least one TD pass to 12 straight games. He has 15 on the season, just three shy of his total from last season.
Coming off a bye week, the Ravens are hoping to solve their woes on offense.
Baltimore has managed just four touchdowns in its past four games, but managed to split them behind the stout defense and 10 field goals from Matt Stover.
Steve McNair is expected to be back at quarterback for the Ravens. The 13-year veteran has missed three games this season, including the two before the bye week, and was unable to finish two others due to a nagging groin injury.
Running back Willis McGahee ranks third in the AFC in rushing with 639 yards and is coming off a season-best 114-yard effort with one touchdown on 19 carries in a 19-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Ravens coach Brian Billick has won eight of his last nine against the Steelers, including three straight.
