Bolts shut out Leafs, win 5th straight

Jan 26, 2011 - 7:42 AM Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Dwayne Roloson stopped 26 shots for his third shutout of the season to help the Tampa Bay Lightning take a 2-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Teddy Purcell had a goal and an assist while Simon Gagne also scored for the Lightning, who have won five straight to close out their first half of the season.

With a mark of 31-15-5, the Lightning hold a four-point lead over Washington for the top spot in the Southeast Division and sit four points back of the Flyers for the No. 1 position in the Eastern Conference and NHL.

With All Star weekend coming up, Tampa Bay is off until next Tuesday's home game against the Flyers.

"I think right now we're just focused on having a break, getting away mentally and physically from it and coming back refreshed," said Roloson.

James Reimer gave up both goals on 31 shots as the Maples Leafs head into the break having dropped six of seven.

"They're a skilled team. They have a bunch of players who can shoot the puck," said Reimer.

The Maple Leafs had a promising start to the season as the team won its first four games, but find themselves with a record of 19-25-5, 12 points out of a playoff spot.

Gagne's ninth goal of the year came 5:11 into the game. On the rush, Victor Hedman sent a backhand pass from the right to the left where Gagne had the easy tap-in.

Skating on the power play, the Lightning took a 2-0 lead as Purcell threw the loose puck into the net from the right side after a scramble in front.

Roloson, who needed to stop just four shots in the first period, made 13 saves in the second and nine in the third to cap the shutout.

Tampa returns from the break next Tuesday to face the Flyers at home...Toronto hosts Florida next Tuesday...The Lightning have won all three games with Toronto this season...Roloson has 27 shutouts in his career.
