Big 3rd period lifts Blackhawks over Ducks

Nov 26, 2011 - 12:37 AM Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Patrick Sharp notched his second career hat trick, vaulting Chicago to a 6-5 comeback victory over Anaheim.

Jonathan Toews added two goals and three assists for the Blackhawks, who scored four unanswered third-period goals to halt a three-game slide.

Corey Crawford stopped 23 shots in the victory.

Bobby Ryan scored twice, while Teemu Selanne added a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who fell to 2-11-4 in their last 17 contests.

Jonas Hiller stopped 28 shots before being pulled in the third period. Dan Ellis stopped 8-of-9 shots in relief.

"That was tough," said Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf. "We came out with the energy we wanted, we just didn't finish."

The Blackhawks, who conclude a six-game road trip in Los Angeles on Saturday, appeared sluggish early. Ryan scored with a wrister 1:14 in and Andrew Cogliano scored a minute later to make it 2-0.

Sharpe's first goal, a tip-in assisted by Toews, made it a 2-1 game at the 6:09 mark.

Later in the period, Selanne and Dave Bolland traded goals, making it a 3-2 contest heading into the first intermission.

The only goal of the second period came off the stick of Ryan, who put a tip- in past Crawford off a deft cross-ice feed from Luca Sbisa.

The third period, though, belonged to Sharp and the Blackhawks.

Toews began the comeback, deflecting a Duncan Keith shot into the net 1:04 in, making it 4-3.

Less than 30 seconds later, Toews wrapped a pass around the net and Sharp wristed the puck home for the game-tying tally.

At the 3:33 mark, Sharp settled the puck off a Toews' face off win and buried the it top-shelf for the go-ahead goal, driving Hiller from the contest.

"It was one of those games where the puck just went in," said Sharp. "Everyone was focused today."

Later, Toews' rebound tally off a Keith shot provided a necessary cushion, as Corey Perry scored in the final minute to cap the scoring.
