Blackhawks continue road trip against sliding Ducks
Nov 25, 2011 - 4:14 PM (Sports Network) - The Chicago Blackhawks will try to get back into the win column when they continue a six-game road trip against the Anaheim Ducks this afternoon from the Honda Center.Chicago is 1-3 on the swing and suffered its third straight loss since a four- game winning streak with Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at the hands of the San Jose Sharks. Corey Crawford had 20 saves for the Blackhawks, who have been outscored 15-4 in losses to Calgary, Edmonton and San Jose.
The Blackhawks had two power plays in the opening period and outshot the Sharks by a lopsided 10-5 margin.
"That's the way we wanted to play going into that game," said Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville. "We play like that, we'll find ways to get points."
Quenneville's club fell to 5-6-1 away from the United Center and is still first in the Central Division, two points ahead of Detroit. The Blackhawks will conclude the trek at Los Angeles on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the struggling Ducks will begin a six-game homestand Friday and are 4-6-0 as the host this season. They have lost three in a row at home and five in a row overall, including Wednesday's 4-2 loss at Phoenix.
Corey Perry and Saku Koivu both scored and Jonas Hiller allowed four goals on 29 shots for Anaheim, which has dropped 11 of 12 games and sits last in the Pacific Division.
"We had way too many stick-checks being delivered," Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said. "We were coasting into people and trying to strip people of the puck versus getting into them physically."
The Ducks will also welcome the Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Flyers, Wild and Kings to the Honda Center on this upcoming residency.
Chicago defeated Anaheim, 3-2, in a shootout on Oct. 25 this season in the Windy City and has won three of the previous five matchups between the two Western Conference foes. The Blackhawks, however, are only 4-19-2 in their last 25 trips to Anaheim.
