Ducks rally again, edge Oilers
Apr 3, 2014 - 6:27 AM Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Anaheim Ducks pulled off another comeback on Wednesday night.Francois Beauchemin played hero this time around as the Ducks scored three times in the third period to beat the Edmonton Oilers by a 3-2 margin.
The Ducks trailed the Winnipeg Jets by a 4-0 score late in the second period Monday night, but rallied to force overtime and won the game on Stephane Robidas' goal 16 seconds into the extra session. It was the greatest comeback in franchise history.
Corey Perry scored twice before setting up Beauchemin's one-timer from the top of the left circle with 1:21 to play. Beauchemin's game-winner gave Anaheim a three-point lead over the idle San Jose Sharks for first place in the Pacific Division.
"We always know we have a chance," Beauchemin said. "We're pretty good playing with the lead, as well. It's a lot less stressful playing with a lead. We killed a big penalty just before my goal. That was a big momentum change."
Frederik Andersen stopped 30-of-32 shots for the Ducks, who have won three in a row.
Philip Larsen and Jordan Eberle lit the lamp for the Oilers, who have lost three straight. Viktor Fasth, playing for the first time against the team that traded him to Edmonton last month, made 23 saves.
"There were a lot of emotions," Fasth said. "I had been playing with the guys on the other side for over a year. It was a special feeling. It is tough."
Trailing 2-0, the Ducks got on the board at the 3:28 mark of the third when Perry scored from the slot.
Perry tied the game at 11:25 with a midair deflection of Robidas' shot from the right point.
Earlier, Edmonton jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 16:04 of the second. Larsen's shot from the right circle beat traffic in front and got past Andersen.
Eberle made it 2-0 at 2:51 of the third when he scored off a pass from Taylor Hall.
