Ducks visit Chicago with shot at seventh straight win

Nov 14, 2010 - 3:59 PM (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks will try to continue their perfect start to November when they visit the struggling Chicago Blackhawks this evening at the United Center.

The Ducks went 4-7-1 in October before rattling off six straight wins to begin November. Five of the victories during the current winning streak have come on home ice, but Anaheim, which is 3-6-0 as the guest this year, will kick off a three-game road trip tonight.

Anaheim has won six in a row for the first time since another six-game winning streak from February 17-March 3, 2008. Tonight, the Ducks can match the longest streak in franchise history. Anaheim's only seven-game winning streak was from February 20-March 7, 1999.

The Ducks last played on Friday night and posted a 4-2 victory over the visiting Dallas Stars. Bobby Ryan scored a pair of goals in the third period and Anaheim held off the Stars at the Honda Center.

Ryan Getzlaf and Saku Koivu also lit the lamp for the Ducks, while Jonas Hiller made 27 saves.

The Ducks and Stars were tied at 1-1 before Getzlaf scored to give Anaheim a lead it would never relinquish. The top line of Ryan, Getzlaf and Corey Perry combined for five points on Friday and will try to keep up the good work tonight.

"When Getzy buried that goal, it was huge," Ryan said. "The three of us fought the puck a little bit early in the game, so it was nice to get rewarded for sticking with it. We've figured each other out and we're rolling right now. It's evident. It just needs to stick."

Ducks centerman Saku Koivu is also hot right now, having posted five goals and two assists during his current five-game point streak.

While the Ducks have been flying high, the Blackhawks have had a rough time so far in November. The defending Stanley Cup champions have just one win in six games (1-4-1) this month, but were at least able to record a point in Saturday's loss to Nashville.

The Blackhawks were dealt a 4-3 shootout loss in Nashville, as Cal O'Reilly scored the lone goal of the deciding phase.

Jack Skille had two goals for the Blackhawks, who have lost three straight for the first time this season. Marty Turco turned aside 30-of-33 shots in the setback.

Tonight will mark the last home game for Chicago until the end of the month. Following this evening's tilt, the Blackhawks, who are 4-7-0 as the host, will head out on a six-game road trip. Chicago's next game at the United Center will take place on November 30 against St. Louis.

The Ducks claimed three of four from Chicago last season, but the Blackhawks have four victories in the last seven encounters between the clubs. Anaheim has won seven of its last 11 contests in the Windy City.
