Avs beat Montreal, push win streak to 6

Dec 20, 2010 - 4:13 AM Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Craig Anderson made 27 saves, including 14 in a scoreless third period as the Colorado Avalanche extended their season-long winning streak to six games with a 3-2 win over Montreal.

T.J. Galiardi scored the go-ahead goal in the second period -- the puck went in off his body -- while Kevin Porter and Ryan Wilson also tallied for the Avalanche.

Montreal put six forwards on the ice at the end of the game and peppered Anderson with shots, but he turned them all aside to preserve Colorado's longest winning streak since last January.

Anderson has earned the win in all six games.

"The last three games getting [a lot of] goals has been great. Tonight, three was enough," said Anderson. "Lucky for me I had a good outing."

Michael Cammalleri and Alexandre Picard scored power play goals for the Canadiens, who opened a season-long seven-game road trip with their fourth loss in five games.

Carey Price allowed three goals on 28 shots.

Galiardi was charging towards the net when Ryan O'Reilly fired a shot from the point that Price blocked, but couldn't corral. There were five skaters in front, and the rebound hit Galiardi and went in to give Colorado a 3-2 lead with 3:48 left in the second period.

The play was reviewed to see if Galiardi had kicked the puck in.

"I think Ryan tried to pass it to me. Then it went off my chest somehow," said Galiardi. "I knew it would be [upheld] because it didn't go off my skate at all."

Cammalleri gave Montreal a 1-0 lead midway through the first period on a give- and-go play with Tomas Plekanec. Colorado followed with a power play goal of its own, tying the game when Wilson's slap shot from the point made it through several screens in front.

The Canadiens took a 2-1 lead on Picard's rebound goal early in the second, but Porter collected a turnover at center ice and scored on a backhand just 63 seconds later to tie the game.

"We had our chances," said Montreal forward Jeff Halpern.

Game Notes

It was the only meeting of the season between the teams...Montreal ended 2- for-4 on the power play, while the Avalanche went 1-for-3.
