Preds claw past Blue Jackets

Feb 28, 2011 - 12:26 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - David Legwand scored with 1:35 to play to give the Nashville Predators a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Bridgestone Arena.

Shea Weber had a goal and an assist and Jonathon Blum also scored as the Predators snapped a four-game losing streak. Pekka Rinne stopped 25 shots in the win.

Kris Russell and Matt Calvert each had a goal for the Blue Jackets, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Mathieu Garon made 25 saves in the loss.

"It was a tough game out there, we played well but it didn't turn out our way," said Russell. "We can't win all of them, but we can't give up goals with two minutes left."

The score was tied late in the third period, but Nashville took the lead when Martin Erat blasted a shot from the top of the left circle that saw a big rebound come out to the right where Legwand backhanded it in.

Columbus pulled Garon a bit later for the extra attacker, but was unable to tie the game.

The first period and much of the second period went scoreless, but Columbus scored on the power play with 5:43 to play in the second when Calvert banged home a rebound in front.

Weber tied the game at the 1:47 mark of the third on the power play and Nashville took a 2-1 lead at the 7:18 mark as a low slapper from Blum in the high slot went past Garon.

The Blue Jackets, though, tied the game with 7:26 to play on the power play as Russell's blast from the high slot sailed past Rinne.
