Desperate Bruins aim to get back into series

BOSTON (Ticker) - The Boston Bruins must quickly forget a tough loss in order to avoid falling into a practically insurmountable hole.

The Bruins look to climb back into the series as they host the Montreal Canadiens in Game Three of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals on Sunday.

Boston, which has lost 13 straight meetings to its Northeast Division rival, rallied from two goals down and forced overtime on Saturday.

However, Alexei Kovalev scored a power-play goal 2:30 into the extra session to lead the Canadiens to a 3-2 victory and a commanding two-games-to-none lead.

"It's always great to get the first two wins at home but we haven't really done anything," Kovalev said. "We got the wins at home and now they play at home, but if we get one of their home games the pressure will be on them the most."

A key play in the game was a tripping penalty on Jeremy Reich, which led to Kovalev's man-advantage tally.

"(Andrei) Markov was skating up the ice and I tried to get the puck off of him and I don't know if I hit him or not," Reich said. "I guess the ref thought I did and called the penalty. Regardless of that we took too many penalties and that's the bottom line."

With the quick turnaround, the Bruins have not time to dwell on the loss.

"We need to bring the momentum from (Saturday's) game, what we did in the third period and get on with it," Bruins center David Krejci said.

Game Four is Tuesday in Boston.
