FC Dallas extends unbeaten streak to 17

Sep 26, 2010 - 2:53 AM KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- Jeff Cunningham closed within one goal of the Major League Soccer career lead, and FC Dallas extended its unbeaten streak to 17 matches with a 3-1 victory over the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday night.

Cunningham's 82nd-minute goal was the 131st of his career, one short of the record held by D.C. United's Jaime Moreno.

Marvin Chavez scored his first career goal in the fourth minute and Milton Rodriguez scored in the 12th for Dallas (11-2-13), which handed the Wizards (9-10-6) their second loss in 11 matches.

Chavez converted a give-and-go on the opening score, heading the ball to David Ferreira and then one-timing Ferreira's return chip inside the left post for the fastest goal given up by the Wizards this season. Rodriguez made it 2-0 with a bouncing shot past Jimmy Nielsen from just outside the penalty area.
