Allsopp's goals end United's 5-game losing streak

Aug 22, 2010 - 11:27 PM WASHINGTON(AP) -- Australian striker Danny Allsopp scored either side of halftime as D.C. United ended a five-match losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Sunday.

Andy Najar set up Allsopp's third and fourth goals of the season in the 22nd and 63rd minutes.

In the first half, Danny Califf intercepted Najar's cross in the middle of the box but then lost his footing. Allsopp stepped in to shoot from 10 yards and beat Chris Seitz on the left.

Najar's cross reached Allsopp for the second goal, and he again sent in a powerful shot on the left.

United won for the first time in three games under interim coach Ben Olsen and had not won in eight matches, scoring just three goals.

Philadelphia extended its winless stretch to a season-worst six games and failed to score for the first time in nine matches.
