Chivas still searching for first win after draw with 'Caps
Apr 17, 2011 - 1:12 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Chivas USA played to a 0-0 draw at Empire Field on Saturday, leaving Chivas without a win in its first five games.Outside of a chance in the opening minute that saw Ben Zemanski's header kept out by a nice save from Vancouver goalkeeper Jay Nolly, Chivas (0-2-3) rarely threatened and has now played to successive 0-0 draws in its last two games.
Vancouver (1-2-3) had the better of the play and could have gone in front in the 21st minute when Eric Hassli pulled a ball back to Wes Knight, whose shot beat goalkeeper Dan Kennedy but was cleared off the goal line by Simon Elliot.
Hassli then hit the post from 14 yards after making a run into the penalty area 10 minutes before halftime.
The final chance for either side to grab all three points came in the 89th minute when a volley from Nizar Khalfan forced a good reaction save from Kennedy.
