Camilo spot on for Vancouver

Oct 7, 2011 - 3:30 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Real Salt Lake suffered its fourth successive defeat on Thursday, losing 3-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place behind two successful penalty kicks from Camilo.

The Brazilian converted his first spot kick shortly before halftime after Real Salt Lake's Collen Warner was sent off for handling the ball inside his own penalty area.

Camilo then tallied his 11th goal of the campaign in the 53rd minute when he scored after another handball inside the box, this time from RSL's Chris Schuler.

Nizar Khalfan capped the scoring a few minutes from time for Vancouver, which snaps a three-game losing skid.

Neither side created any real scoring chances in the first 40 minutes, but the match changed dramatically shortly before the break when Jay DeMerit's header was kept out of the Salt Lake net by the arm of Warner.

This earned the RSL man a red card and allowed Camilo to send goalkeeper Nick Rimando the wrong way from the spot.

The visitors had an uphill climb in the second half as they were down a goal and down a man, and it took Vancouver only eight minutes to double its lead.

A deflected pass struck the arm of Schuler inside his own area and referee Chris Penso pointed to the spot, although the call was a bit harsh.

Rimando got a hand to Camilo's penalty kick, but he couldn't keep it from sneaking inside the right post, handing the hosts a 2-0 lead.

Camilo came within inches of completing his hat trick on the hour mark with a curling effort that hit the side netting from 20 yards.

Vancouver was easily seeing out the final 30 minutes of the match, but Khalfan added a third goal with a nice strike from 20 yards in the 88th minute.
