'Quakes, Sounders tie at two

Apr 3, 2011 - 5:03 AM Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Seattle Sounders FC and the San Jose Earthquakes battled to a 2-2 draw in Major League Soccer action at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday night.

Seattle took the early lead when Mauro Rosales played a ball into San Jose's six-yard box to Brad Evans, who powered home from close range for his first goal of the season in the 17th minute.

San Jose equalized in the 32nd minute when Bobby Convey's through-ball to Simon Dawkins breaking into the Seattle penalty area was touched into the far- post side netting, past goalkeeper Kasey Keller.

The goal, which was Dawkins first in MLS, broke a league-record streak by San Jose striker Chris Wondolowski, who has scored his teams last 12 regular- season goals.

Seattle went back up a goal three minutes before the break when winger Steve Zakuani crossed into the six to O'Brien White, who's diving header found the back of the net.

But San Jose made it 2-2 in the 52nd minute when second-half substitute Khari Stephenson ripped a 30-yard screamer into the top corner, past a diving Keller.

Seattle (0-2-2) will be gunning for its first win of the season when it hosts Chicago next Saturday, while San Jose (1-1-1) hosts Toronto FC the same night in its next MLS fixture.
