TFC tries to end road woes in Salt Lake

Jun 24, 2011 - 9:39 PM Sandy, UT (Sports Network) - Both Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC enter their match at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday in need of a win, while both teams will also be trying to fix struggling attacks.

For RSL head coach Jason Kreis the past few weeks have been tough as the team has had to cope without key players in attack because of the Gold Cup.

Both Alvaro Saborio and Arturo Alvarez took part in the competition, and although they have returned to the team, injuries could prevent them from taking the field on Saturday.

Saborio is battling a knee injury while Alvarez was limited in the Gold Cup by a hamstring problem.

In Wednesday's 0-0 draw with the Chicago Fire, Kreis' options up top were severely limited by injuries and the suspension of Jean Alexandre, leaving the unproven duo of Luis Gil and Artur Aghasyan to start.

The result extended RSL's winless streak to four games, but the club has earned draws in its last three and Kreis is putting a positive spin on his team's recent form.

"Listen, you can look at it with a glass half empty, I will look at it as half full," Kreis said. "That's three games without a loss. We don't have any forwards, so I think that's okay."

Salt Lake has only managed to score three times in its last four games, but Toronto has had its own troubles in front of goal, with the club being held scoreless in three of its last four matches.

TFC has failed to win any of its seven away contests this season and is bringing an eight-game winless streak into the match, but despite those results, goalkeeper Stefan Frei feels that his team will turn things around.

"I think we need to get some consistency," Frei said. "You need time to get that consistency. But I think if we're patient as players, as fans, as a front office, as coaches, and stick to our guns and believe in what we want to achieve, I think we can get that consistency. We will eventually get the results that we need."
