Mierzejewski back on deck for Sydney FC
Oct 26, 2017 - 2:25 AM Sydney FC winger Adrian Mierzejewski has been declared fit to return to A-League action after a hamstring injury, in time to be unleashed on Perth Glory. The Polish international's complaint surfaced during the Sky Blues' round two win against Wellington and left him sidelined for their 2-2 derby draw with Western Sydney Wanderers last weekend.
Coach Graham Arnold said Mierzejewski is 100 per cent ready for Friday's match against Perth and has done "enormously well" this week in training.
"He's trained the house down," Arnold told reporters on Thursday.
Along with Mierzejewski's welcome selection, Arnold is confident the Sky Blues efforts to fine-tune their famed defence this week will be evident on against the Glory.
The Sky Blues conceded just 14 goals in 34 league and cup matches last season, but they have leaked four in the past week.
Arnold said a stronger start is also on the menu for his side, with senior players encouraged to drive it.
Perth are eager to follow up their first win of the campaign last weekend against Central Coast, with defender Shane Lowry lamenting the time the side spent "chasing shadows" against the Mariners.
Lowry said preventing Sydney from scoring early was a priority.
"I'm expecting Sydney to come out and attack us," he told reporters this week.
