McCoughtry powers Dream past Washington

Jul 20, 2011 - 6:15 PM Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Angel McCoughtry poured in 33 points to lead the Atlanta Dream to an 86-79 victory over the Washington Mystics at the Verizon Center.

Lindsey Harding added 14 points and Armintie Price chipped in 12 for the Dream, who scored 10 straight points down the stretch to turn a 78-76 deficit into an 86-78 lead.

Sandora Irvin's putback off a McCoughtry miss tied the game at 78-78 with just under two minutes left and Price made a tough driving layup 30 seconds later to put Atlanta ahead for good. After Nicky Anosike turned the ball over at the other end, Harding pulled up for a fadeaway jumper near the left elbow to give the Dream a four-point margin with 40.1 seconds remaining.

McCoughtry and Irvin sealed the contest with free throws.

Irvin scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Atlanta, which also won a matinee on Tuesday against Indiana and posted its third straight win. The Dream again played without Sancho Lyttle because of a back injury and Coco Miller because of a sprained ankle.

Crystal Langhorne led Washington with 24 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds while dishing out five assists. Anosike finished with 14 rebounds and Marissa Coleman contributed 21 points for the Mystics, who were coming off an overtime win against Los Angeles on Sunday and lost for the sixth time in their seven games.
