Montgomery helps Sun down Dream
Aug 22, 2011 - 12:06 AM Uncasville, CT (Sports Network) - Renee Montgomery scored 21 points and dished out eight assists to lead the Connecticut Sun to a 96-87 victory over the Atlanta Dream at Mohegan Sun Arena.Tina Charles dropped 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Asjha Jones scored 18 and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Sun, who snapped a two- game slide. The Sun improved to 17-10 on the season and sit two games behind Indiana for first place in the Eastern Conference.
Angel McCoughtry netted a game-high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Erika de Souza poured in 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Dream, who fell to 13-13 on the season.
Connecticut held a three point lead after three quarters and used a 30-point final quarter to pull away and secure the win.
The Sun shot 52.8 percent from the field, while Atlanta shot 42.7 percent.
