Charles ties own record in loss to Atlanta
Sep 7, 2011 - 1:51 AM Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Angel McCoughtry went off for 35 points as the Atlanta Dream took an 85-74 victory over the Connecticut Sun.McCoughtry, who ranks second in scoring in the league, added five rebounds and four assists, and Sancho Lyttle contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds in the Dream's season-best sixth straight home win.
Tina Charles tied her own record, which she set last year en route to winning rookie of the year, with her 22nd double-double of the season. Charles scored a team-high 17 points and pulled down 12 boards for the Sun.
Connecticut could have tied the idle Indiana Fever for first place in the Eastern Conference with a win, but fell to a game back of the top spot.
The teams ended the first quarter in a 20-20 tie, but Atlanta outscored Connecticut 46-35 over the next two quarters and responded to an early 8-1 run by the Sun early in the fourth with a 12-2 burst late in the quarter to seal the win.
