Aug 31, 2012 - 2:14 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tina Charles led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Connecticut Sun surpassed the San Antonio Silver Stars, 84-73, on Thursday.Kara Lawson totaled 14 points, while Kelsey Griffin had 13 with 10 boards and Renee Montgomery added 13 points for the Sun, who improved to 18-6 on the season and maintained a firm hold on the East's top spot.
Danielle Adams poured in a game-high 22 points for the Silver Stars, who are 17-7 and firmly entrenched in third place in the West. Sophia Young picked up 20 points and 10 rebounds in a losing cause.
Connecticut gained the upper hand with a strong second quarter, outscoring the hosts 32-20 and turning a tie game after one period into a 12-point edge at the break.
