Prince, Sky down Liberty

Jun 28, 2014 - 2:08 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Epiphanny Prince netted 30 points and the Chicago Sky defeated the New York Liberty, 73-69, on Friday night.

The Sky played without Elena Delle Donne, who has gone home to Delaware to continue treatment for Lyme disease. Delle Donne had returned to the court in a loss at Connecticut on Wednesday after missing five games because of the tick-borne disease. Chicago said there is no timetable for her return.

Tamera Young added 13 points and five rebounds for the Sky, who had lost seven of their last eight coming in.

Tina Charles had 16 points and eight boards for New York, which has dropped nine of its last 11 games.

Chicago, which led 50-37 at the break, held a 71-65 advantage with 2:27 left in regulation before a Plenette Pierson jumper and a Charles layup pulled the Liberty within 71-69 with 45.7 ticks to play.

Courtney Vandersloot was then called for traveling, but Pierson missed a layup and Cappie Pondexter was unable to connect from beyond the arc for New York. Prince drained a pair of foul shots with 10.8 seconds remaining to seal the outcome.
