Hammon, Young shine as Silver Stars beat Sun
Jun 24, 2007 - 1:15 AM UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Becky Hammon scored 20 points and Sophia Young added 17 and eight rebounds as the San Antonio Silver Stars coasted to a 71-58 triumph over the Connecticut Sun.Vickie Johnson netted 10 points for the San Antonio, which shot 45 percent (28-of-61) from the field en route to pushing its winning streak to fourth games.
Leading, 56-52, in the fourth quarter, the Silver Stars pulled away for good behind an impressive 10-2 surge, capped by Young's jumper at the 5:18 mark. Hammon scored five in the run.
San Antonio outscored Connecticut, 15-8, in the final period.
Katie Douglas and Lindsay Whalen each poured in 15 points for the Sun, who shot just 31 percent (19-of-61) and committed 19 turnovers.
Connecticut was without All-Star forward Nykesha Sales, who did not dress because of an injured ankle.
