Sun rally past Sky
Jun 26, 2014 - 1:14 AM Uncasville, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Alyssa Thomas tallied 23 points and 11 rebounds to help the Connecticut Sun take down the Chicago Sky, 79-69, at Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday.Katie Douglas had 19 and Alex Bentley scored 12 points with a game-high nine assists for Connecticut, which trailed by 12 on multiple occasions in the first half before rallying to take the lead in the third period.
Chicago erupted for 30 first quarter points on 13-of-20 from the field and led by nine, 30-21, after one. The Sun went in front by a point late in the first half, but Elena Delle Donne finished on a personal 5-0 run to extend Chicago's lead back to six.
Delle Donne scored 13 points, and Sylvia Fowles posted 17 points and nine boards in the setback.
Thomas outscored the Sky by herself, 12-10, in the third, as the Sun pulled away. The lead ballooned to 63-47 late in the stanza, and Chicago never threatened the rest of the way.
Connecticut outrebounded Chicago, 44-27, and outscored the Sky by 10 in transition.
