D'Orazio throws five TD passes as Rush edge SaberCats

Mar 10, 2007 - 7:59 AM ROSEMONT, Illinois (Ticker) -- Matt D'Orazio threw five touchdown passes to lead the defending ArenaBowl champion Chicago Rush to a 48-45 victory over the San Jose SaberCats in the season opener for both teams.

D'Orazio completed 15-of-28 passes for 114 yards. He threw three of his TD passes to Russell Shaw, who made four receptions for 42 yards.

Shaw's third TD catch of the game gave Chicago (1-0) a 41-24 lead with 14:14 to play.

Mark Grieb completed 36-of-54 passes for 327 yards and six TDs for San Jose. His 36 completions set a new team record.

Rodney Wright caught 13 passes for 120 yards and a TD late in the first quarter that gave San Jose (0-1) a 14-10 advantage. Jonathan Ordway returned the ensuing kickoff 54 yards for a score to put the Rush ahead for good, 17-14.
