Grieb propels SaberCats past Crush

Jul 5, 2008 - 11:42 PM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Mark Grieb threw seven touchdown passes to lead the San Jose SaberCats to a 64-51 victory over the Colorado Crush in the divisional round of the Arena Football League playoffs on Saturday.

The SaberCats advanced to the American Conference championship game and will face the winner of Sunday's Grand Rapids Rampage-Chicago Rush game.

Grieb completed 25-of-34 passes for 283 yards and an interception for defending champion San Jose (12-5), which is 13-4 at home in the postseason.

The SaberCats' signal caller tossed two touchdowns in the first quarter and three in the second to help give the home team a 33-24 halftime lead. Three of the scores were caught by wide receiver James Roe, who had seven catches for 53 yards.

Grieb added two more scoring tosses in the fourth quarter, including one to Cleann Saintil with 3:04 left to give San Jose a 57-37 lead. Saintil had eight catches for 95 yards and 2 TDs.

John Dutton was 38-of-58 for 369 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions for Colorado (7-11), which is 1-9 all-time against the SaberCats.
