Alexander scores five TDs as Kats defeat Blaze
Mar 19, 2007 - 4:43 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Dan Alexander put his best foot forward.Alexander set a season high with five rushing touchdowns and Jeff Smoker threw for five more as the Nashville Kats recorded a 69-55 victory over the Utah Blaze.
Alexander gained 33 yards on 13 carries and scored the go-ahead TD with 9:35 left in the second quarter to make it 28-20. His one-yard score helped Nashville (1-2) push its advantage to 49-34 with 13:46 to go in the third.
Smoker completed 19-of-30 attempts for 273 yards in his first career start, including three touchdowns passes to Kenny Higgins, who had six catches for 98 yards.
Joe Germaine went 28-of-36 for 326 yards with six TDs and Bryant Orshawa caught 12 passes for 127 yards for Utah (2-1), which led 20-7 at the 3:50 mark in the first quarter.
