Dutton leads Crush over Blaze
Jun 28, 2008 - 11:30 PM SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- John Dutton threw for 268 yards and six touchdowns as the fifth-seeded Colorado Crush defeated the fourth-seeded Utah Blaze, 49-44, in the opening round of the Arena Football League playoff game on Saturday.Colorado (7-10) will play either the San Jose SaberCats or the Chicago Rush in the next round, depending on the outcome of Monday's game between the Grand Rapids Rampage and Arizona Rattlers.
Dutton completed 30-of-47 passes and connected with Wendall Williams for three scores, including the go-ahead touchdown with 3:37 remaining.
Williams had 13 receptions for 123 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown catch that gave the Crush a 42-37 lead. After getting the ball back, Colorado again scored on its next possession with exactly one minute remaining, extending the advantage to 49-37.
Joe Germaine threw for 252 yards and six scores - three to JJ McKelvey - for the Blaze (6-11), who had recovered from an 0-9 start just to get into the playoffs.
