Eskimos crush Winnipeg, clinch playoff berth

Oct 14, 2014 - 12:29 AM Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Reilly ran in two touchdowns to lead the Edmonton Eskimos to a 41-9 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Monday.

Reilly went 19-for-31 for 197 yards while adding 26 yards on seven carries for the Eskimos (10-5), who clinched a playoff berth with the win.

Drew Willy was just 4-for-9 for 23 yards and left late in the second quarter with a hand injury for the Blue Bombers (6-9), who have lost their past six games. Brian Brohm relieved Willy and finished the game 18-for-33 for 219 yards with an interception.

Edmonton's second touch of the game saw the team find the end zone as Pat White ran the ball in from a yard out with under six minutes to play in the first.

Hugh O'Neill hit field goals of 21 and 33 yards, with a single in between, to give the Eskimos a 14-0 advantage.

Willy fumbled the ball on a sack and Dexter McCoil recovered, going 77 yards to give Edmonton a 21-0 lead with less than six minutes to play in the first half.

Reilly had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs, while the Eskimos defense added a safety with a sack of Willy in the end zone as Edmonton took a 37-0 lead into the break.

A 16-yard field goal from O'Neill in the third quarter made it a 40-0 game, but Winnipeg got a pair of field goals from Lirim Hajrullahu of 43 and 31 yards to make it a 40-6 game.

A single for Edmonton and 26-yard field goal by Hajrullahu in the fourth quarter rounded out the scoring.

Edmonton plays at Saskatchewan on Sunday ... Winnipeg hosts Calgary on Saturday ... It was the 38th time the Eskimos have won 10 games in the season, which leads the CFL ... John White had 16 carries for 96 yards for Edmonton.
