Wright keeps Hurricanes BBL coaching job
Apr 6, 2016 - 5:31 AM Damien Wright will stay on as head coach of the Hobart Hurricanes after being offered a one-year contract extension despite his Big Bash League side's lacklustre summer.Cricket Tasmania Chairman Andrew Gaggin on Wednesday insisted Wright was the man for the job, having led the Hurricanes to the BBL final in 2013-14.
"Next year is a big year. It's time for us to push and have some success," Wright said, keen to move forward from the side's seventh-placed finish in January.
The Hurricanes have also announced the re-signing of spinner Clive Rose, and the snaring of wicketkeeper/batsman Ben McDermott, who has had four BBL outings with the Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades.
Four vacancies remain in the Hurricanes' line-up, including a spot for a second international player.
Hurricanes: George Bailey, Tim Paine, Ben Dunk, Kumar Sangakkara, Dan Christian, Shaun Tait, Cameron Boyce, Simon Milenko, Jake Reed, Sam Rainbird, Jonathan Wells, Dom Michael, Clive Rose, Ben McDermott.
