Padres' Moseley hopes for some more good luck against D-Backs

Despite pitching to a 1.99 earned run average through his first five starts, Moseley exited April 0-3 thanks to the lowest run support in the majors at 0.57 runs per game. However, both the right-hander and his offense did their part in Monday's win over the Dodgers.
Moseley hurled seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball, walking two and striking out six, while the Padres' bats made sure it didn't go to waste in a 7-0 triumph. The 29-year-old Moseley lowered his ERA to 1.63 with the win.
"That was big for us and big for him," Padres first baseman Brad Hawpe told San Diego's website. "He's been pitching his tail off every game. He's been a professional about it."
Moseley will try to win consecutive outings for the first time since Aug. 18-24 of last season while facing the Diamondbacks for the first time in his career.
He'll also be trying to pitch the Padres to second consecutive win overall after they took Friday's opener, 4-3, in 11 innings. Chase Headley made up for a throwing error that led to a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the 11th inning to end the game.
"It was a good at-bat. He worked it to a full count and forced [Arizona's Sam Demel] to throw a strike," Padres manager Bud Black said of Headley's at-bat.
Padres closer Heath Bell saw his consecutive saves streak end at 41 straight in part because of Headley's error. Bell was unable to hold a 3-0 lead after yielding three runs, though just one was earned on a Gerardo Parra run-scoring double. Still, San Diego won for the fourth time in six games despite Bell's first blown save since May 26, 2010.
Parra posted two hits for the Diamondbacks, who had won three of four overall coming in and four straight against the Padres.
"We walked [10] guys and walked the winning run in. You can't walk people in this ballpark," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said.
Gibson will hope for better control out of tonight's starter Daniel Hudson, who has won consecutive starts after losing his first four of 2011.
The 24-year-old righty beat the Cubs on Sunday, giving up three runs on eight hits over seven innings, walking one and striking out five. Hudson has a 5.30 ERA through his six starts.
Hudson faced the Padres for the first and only time in his career on Aug. 6 of last season and got the win, getting charged with a run over 7 2/3 innings of a 2-1 decision.
