Florida's Brad Hand earned his first major league win and Mike Stanton homered for the second straight game in Thursday's opener, as the Marlins rolled to a 5-0 win.
Hand (1-3) didn't allow a hit through the first 4 1/3 innings. In all, he lasted seven frames, surrendering just two hits and three walks while striking out four.
Stanton, who delivered a 10th-inning home run in Wednesday's 7-6 victory over Philadelphia, belted a two-run shot and Logan Morrison added a two-run double.
J.A. Happ (3-11) allowed five runs on five hits and a career-high seven walks over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out eight.
The Astros, who have dropped 14 of their last 17, did not place a runner in scoring position and finished with just three hits, as Clint Barmes, Carlos Lee and Angel Sanchez each singled.
Lyles, a 20-year-old from North Carolina, was a supplemental draft pick in 2008 and debuted with the big club on May 31 at Wrigley Field, allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings while getting a no-decision in Houston's 7-3 defeat of Chicago.
The Astros have lost each of his six outings since, including a five-inning stint on July 3 against Boston, when Lyles got another no-decision after allowing an unearned run on three hits in five innings.
In 41 innings overall, he's been nicked for 42 hits and 22 runs while allowing a .263 opposition batting average.
Lyles has never faced the Marlins.
Florida replies with veteran righty Javier Vazquez, who reached the majors with the Montreal Expos when Lyles was eight.
The 34-year-old Puerto Rican has dropped four of his last five decisions, including a hard-luck 1-0 verdict at Oakland on June 28, when he gave up just an unearned run and three hits.
He lasted six innings and allowed two runs in one subsequent start, getting a no-decision in the Marlins' 6-4 win at Texas.
Vazquez is 5-5 in 15 career starts against the Astros.
Florida has won three of four from the Astros this season.
