Terry sparks Mavs win over Grizzlies

Nov 11, 2010 - 6:09 AM Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Jason Terry scored 25 points off the bench to pace the Dallas Mavericks over the Memphis Grizzlies, 106-91.

Shawn Marion added 20 points and seven rebounds for the Mavericks, who are off to a 5-2 start. Dirk Nowitzki ended with 12 points and 10 boards.

"The great thing about our team is our depth. We probably have five starters coming off the bench at any time," Mavs forward Tyson Chandler said.

Zach Randolph finished with 23 points and nine rebounds for the Grizzlies, who had won two in a row. Rudy Gay tallied 18 points and nine boards in defeat.

The Mavericks led by six, 27-21, after 12 minutes of action. Brendan Haywood's slam put Dallas ahead by 13, 38-25, with under seven minutes to play until half.

Memphis used a 13-4 run to get back in the game. Gay's three-pointer had the Grizzlies within four, 42-38, with under 4 1/2 minutes remaining. The Mavericks took a 55-50 margin into the locker room.

Dallas put the game away in the third quarter. The visitors opened the period on a 18-5 burst. Marion tallied eight points during the spurt to help the Mavs build a 73-55 lead with seven minutes left.

The score was 86-69 moving to the fourth and Dallas cruised to victory from there.

"We had guys being overly aggressive and not playing smart," Grizzlies guard Mike Conley said.

Game Notes

The Grizzlies snapped a three-game skid against Dallas with a 91-90 win in Big D back on October 29...The Mavericks have opened the year with a 3-0 mark on the road for the first time in eight seasons...Dallas shot 54.1 percent from floor, compared to 45.2 percent for Memphis.
