Cavs take care of struggling Sixers
Nov 17, 2010 - 7:31 AM Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Daniel Gibson scored 18 points and dished out eight assists, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 101-93 victory over the struggling Philadelphia 76ers.Jamario Moon and Joey Graham each scored 13 for the Cavaliers, who evened their record at 5-5. Anthony Parker and Antawn Jamison both had 10 in the balanaced attack that saw nine players score at least seven points.
"We just kept up the pressure. We kept the pressure up on defense and we continued to move the basketball," Moon said. "It wasn't just in that third quarter; it was in that fourth quarter too. We have been struggling for a while in the third and fourth quarter, but (tonight) for 48 minutes, we pretty much put a complete game together."
Thaddeus Young led the Sixers with 17 points and eight rebounds, but Philadelphia dropped to a dismal 2-9 this season following a 1-4 road trip. Evan Turner contributed with 16 points and nine boards, while Jrue Holiday had 11 points and 10 assists.
Elton Brand added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Philadelphia.
"I think, one thing, they just hit tough shots, a lot of tough shots," Turner said. "They definitely executed, but they kept making shots. Their bench definitely helped them out with scoring runs."
With the game tied at 61 early in the third quarter, the Cavs scored 11 consecutive points to move ahead for good.
Moon had a pair of jumpers, Jamison drained a three and Anderson Varejao finished the surge with a three-point play for a 72-61 lead with 4 1/2 minutes to go.
The Sixers went over four minutes without scoring while Cleveland built its lead, and the Cavs held an 80-70 lead heading to the fourth.
Philadelphia was never able to get closer than seven points in the fourth quarter, as Cleveland had an answer for each potential rally. Holiday hit a pair of free throws with seven minutes left for a 90-83 contest, but Ryan Hollins answered with a pair from the stripe, and Graham's three-pointer gave Cleveland a 95-83 lead with six minuets to go.
The 76ers grabbed a 23-19 lead after the first quarter, but Cleveland fought back to tie the game, 54-54, at halftime.

The Cavs have beaten the Sixers five straight times and 10 of the last 11...Cleveland leads the season series, 2-0...Six players scored in double figures for Philadelphia...The Sixers committed 15 turnovers, while Cleveland gave up the ball only eight times...Philadelphia played without swingman Andre Igoudala, who missed the game with an Achilles' tendon injury.
