Struggling Kings visit Jazz
Nov 22, 2010 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - The Utah Jazz expect to have head coach Jerry Sloan back on the bench Monday for the opener of a three-game homestand against the Sacramento Kings. The Jazz split a pair of games without their veteran mentor, who was away attending a family member's funeral. In their latest contest on Saturday C.J. Miles finished with a game-high 25 points and Al Jefferson scored 20 with 14 rebounds, as Utah topped the banged-up Portland Trail Blazers, 103-94, at the Rose Garden.
Deron Williams added 12 points and 11 assists, and Paul Millsap contributed 15 points and six rebounds for Utah, which has won seven of its last nine overall.
"(Miles) shot it and shot it well," Williams said. "Especially when it counted. He hit some threes from three or four feet past the three-point line. He gave us a lot of energy."
Andrei Kirilenko contributed with 13 points for the Jazz, who made all 21 free throws they attempted.
The Jazz will also host New Orleans and the LA Lakers on their residency.
The reeling Kings, meanwhile, lost for the seventh time in eight games on Sunday, an ugly 75-71 setback to New Orleans in ARCO Arena.
Donte Greene recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Kings, who committed 21 turnovers to end a 1-3 homestand, in that one.
Tyreke Evans finished with nine points, seven rebounds and five assists while Luther Head scored 11 for the Kings.
"We couldn't get shots when we needed to get them," Kings coach Paul Westphal said. "It's a shame when you play as hard as we played tonight to not have a win to show for it."
Sacramento has dropped five of its past six trips to Salt Lake City.
The Bucks have won six straight over the Oklahoma City franchise in Milwaukee.
