Grizzlies, Warriors clash at FedEx Forum
Nov 26, 2010 - 3:54 PM (Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies hope to finish up a three-game homestand in perfect fashion Friday when they welcome the struggling Golden State Warriors to FedEx Forum. The Grizzlies improved to 2-0 on their current residency Wednesday when Zach Randolph scored a game-high 21 points and added 14 rebounds as Memphis easily topped Detroit, 105-84.
Rudy Gay finished with 17 points and Mike Conley and Darrell Arthur both added 14 points for the Grizzlies, who have won the two straight since dropping five in a row.
"We just showed what we can do," Gay said. "Honestly, I don't think we played as good as we probably could. We played great in the second half and forced them into a lot of turnovers and we came out with the win."
The Warriors, meanwhile, kicked off a three-game road trip in losing fashion Wednesday, dropping their fourth consecutive game to Houston 111-101. Kevin Martin scored 25 points in that one as the Rockets snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory.
Dorell Wright led Golden State with 24 points and Stephen Curry added 21 for the Warriors, who lost for the sixth time in seven games since losing star forward David Lee.
Lee underwent surgery back on Nov. 12 to stave off an infection in a cut in his elbow suffered after colliding with New York's Wilson Chandler in a Golden State win at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 10.
"There is not a lot to say," Warriors coach Keith Smart said. "We didn't get off to a good start and we had to fight back the whole game. We are not making smart decisions."
Lee had the stitches and PICC-line (peripherally inserted central catheter for IVs) removed from his right arm and was given clearance to resume light workouts on Thursday but will be sidelined again tonight.
Memphis, which is 4-4 at home this season, has won three straight as the host over Golden State.
