Spurs put road mark on line at Oakland
Nov 30, 2010 - 3:46 PM (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs will aim to remain the NBA's only perfect road team tonight when they continue a three-game trek in Oakland, searching for their ninth straight win over the Golden State Warriors. The Spurs have been especially dominant in their run against the Warriors, winning the last eight in the series by an average of nearly 19 points per game.
The Spurs, who are 7-0 as the visitor on the year, won for the 13th time in 14 games in New Orleans on Sunday when Manu Ginobili scored 23 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out eight assists to help San Antonio forge a 109-95 win over the Hornets.
Tim Duncan added 21 points and seven boards, while Richard Jefferson supplied 19 points for the Spurs, who overcame a 17-point halftime deficit to win.
"We played 24 minutes of good defense," Ginobili said. "We really need to step it up because teams have been shooting over 50 percent and that is not good enough to be a championship-caliber defensive team."
The Warriors, meanwhile, snapped a five-game skid in Minneapolis on Saturday when Dorell Wright scored a career-high 30 points and set a franchise record with nine three-pointers as Golden State topped Minnesota, 104-94.
Monta Ellis added a double-double with 26 points and 10 assists while Stephen Curry finished with 20 points and seven assists for the Warriors.
David Lee, who made his return to the Warriors after missing eight games with a lacerated elbow that became infected, added 10 points and six rebounds. Golden State is now 7-2 with Lee in the lineup and a dismal 1-7 when he sits.
"He's a big facilitator for our team," said Warriors head coach Keith Smart about Lee. "He does so many more things for our team than just his points and rebounds. He's a communicator and it was great getting him back."
