Road-weary Wizards visit Kings
Dec 8, 2010 - 4:04 PM (Sports Network) - The road has not been kind to Washington so far this season but the Wizards may have their best chance yet to earn a win away from the nation's capital tonight when they visit the hapless Sacramento Kings. The Wizards fell to 0-11 as the visitor on Tuesday in Los Angeles when Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 32 points, leading the Lakers to a 115-108 victory over Washington.
Nick Young went 6-of-11 from three-point range and scored a season-high 30 points for the Wizards, who are in the midst of the franchise's worst start ever away from home. Gilbert Arenas had 23 points in defeat while rookie John Wall recorded 22 points and 14 assists for Washington, which played without big man Andray Blatche (bruised hip), who is averaging 17.1 points and 7.8 rebounds a night.
"We showed heart tonight," Wall said. "We were able to get back in the game. It's a learning experience. We have to learn how to finish games."
Blatche remains questionable for tonight's contest.
The Kings, meanwhile, dropped their eighth straight game against LA's other club, the Clippers, on Monday. Eric Gordon scored 13 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, including a go-ahead three-pointer in the final minute on that one to help the Clips survive a furious Sacramento comeback in a 98-91 victory at Staples Center.
The Clippers squandered a 16-point lead entering the fourth and trailed 91-87 with 2 1/2 minutes to play before scoring the final 11 points.
Omri Casspi posted 21 points and 10 boards to pace Sacramento, which has lost 14 of 15 overall and is an NBA-worst 4-15 on the year. Tyreke Evans netted 16 points, and DeMarcus Cousins and Carl Landry scored 15 apiece in defeat.
"We learned what we already know, that we have to keep getting better in late- game situations," coach Paul Westphal said on Tuesday. "To have a four-point lead and get outscored 11-0 is really painful."
It may not be any easier tonight for the Kings since Evans is listed as questionable with plantar fasciitis, while center Samuel Dalembert is iffy since he will be attending a funeral in Philadelphia on Wednesday morning.
The Wizards have won nine of their last 10 against Sacramento.
