Knicks continue road swing in Portland

Jan 11, 2011 - 3:49 PM (Sports Network) - The revitalized New York Knicks resume a four-game western road swing tonight in the Pacific Northwest when they take on the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.

New York won the opener of the trip against the Phoenix Suns but came back down to earth on Sunday, falling to the two-time defending NBA champion Lakers. Kobe Bryant scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in that one to help Los Angeles rout New York, 109-87, at Staples Center.

Amare Stoudemire notched 23 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for the Knicks, who lost for the first time in four games. Wilson Chandler had 19 points for New York, which shot just 36 percent from the floor.

"We weren't very sharp. We never got into a rhythm," said Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni.

New York, which is now 11-8 on the road, will finish its trip in Utah on Wednesday.

The Blazers, meanwhile, lost for just the fourth time this year on their home floor on Sunday when LeBron James scored a game-high 44 points, including a deep three-pointer with 16.3 seconds remaining in overtime, as the Miami Heat topped Portland, 107-100.

LaMarcus Aldridge led the Blazers with 31 points and 14 rebounds, but committed a costly turnover in the closing seconds of overtime to allow Miami to seal the victory.

Nicolas Batum added 22 points and Wesley Matthews scored 14 to go along with five assists for the Blazers, who had an eight-game home winning streak snapped and fell to 12-4 in Portland. Marcus Camby grabbed 14 rebounds in the loss.

"We lost this game, we gotta move on," Batum said. "New York is coming to town so we gotta focus on New York now."

Portland has won seven of eight over the Knicks and ruined Stoudemire's Madison Square Garden debut with a 100-95 win back on Oct. 30.
