Knicks top Portland

Jan 12, 2011 - 5:57 AM Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Amare Stoudemire finished with 23 points and eight rebounds, leading the New York Knicks to a 100-86 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Ronny Turiaf added season highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks, who have won four of five. New York also improved to 12-8 on the road, a record that has already surpassed last season's 11-30 mark away from home.

Raymond Felton had 17 points and 14 assists in the victory.

LaMarcus Aldridge's 19 points and 10 rebounds led Portland, which was coming off Sunday's overtime loss to Miami.

The Blazers trailed by nine entering the fourth quarter and climbed within 81-76 when Andre Miller hit a jumper with seven minutes to play. However, Stoudemire answered with two free throws and Wilson Chandler threw down an alley-oop dunk to restore some cushion for New York.

Aldridge made two foul shots at the other end, but the Knicks pulled away with a 9-0 run. Stoudemire capped it with an emphatic dunk, making it a 94-78 contest with 3:48 left and essentially securing the victory.

The Blazers shot just 26 percent in the first quarter but made 10-of-11 foul shots to stay within 29-23. New York led by as many as 12 in the second quarter, but Portland trimmed its deficit to 56-50 by the break.

The Blazers opened the third quarter on a seven-point burst to move in front. It was still a one-possession game later in the frame, but New York scored nine straight points to gain some separation. Turiaf's layup with two minutes to play capped the rally for a 73-62 edge, and the Knicks held a 75-66 advantage going into the final quarter.
