Spurs set for showdown with Bucks

Jan 12, 2011 - 4:32 PM (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs will close out a quick two-game road trip tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks from the Bradley Center.

San Antonio posted a 107-96 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves last night in the back end of a home-and-home series from the Twin Cities. Manu Ginobili scored 19 points and Richard Jefferson had 17 for the Spurs, who have won 16 in a row and 21 of the last 22 meetings with the T'Wolves.

"They've been harder for us to play than anyone so far," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said of the Timberwolves. "It's going to turn for them."

Tim Duncan finished with 16 points and Tony Parker added 12 with 13 assists in the win, San Antonio's third straight overall since consecutive losses to New York and Boston.

The Spurs improved to 12-4 away from the Alamo City and will kick off a four- game homestand with Dallas, Denver, Toronto and New York after their bout in the Land of Cheese.

Milwaukee had an extra day of rest after Tuesday's game in Atlanta was postponed because of inclement weather in the area. The game has been rescheduled for March 15 at Philips Arena.

The Bucks are coming off Saturday's 115-92 triumph over the New Jersey Nets. Former Net Chris Douglas-Roberts celebrated his 24th birthday by scoring a game-high 24 points off the bench and Ersan Ilyasova notched a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Bucks, who won for the second time in seven tries.

"This game really did mean a lot to us, period," said Douglas-Roberts, who is posting 27.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in his last two games. "We need these games...we need to win."

The Bucks were without center Andrew Bogut due to a viral infection and he's listed as probable for tonight's game. Bogut is averaging 13.3 points and 11.7 rebounds this season. Corey Maggette scored 20 points to help the Bucks end a three-game losing streak and improve to 6-13 as the guest.

John Salmons added 12 points and has scored in double digits in each of the past 11 games, averaging a team-high 17.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals over that stretch.

Milwaukee is back at home where it owns an 8-8 ledger in 2010-11.

San Antonio defeated the Bucks, 92-90, back on Dec. 15 this season from the AT&T Center, as Manu Ginobili put the finishing touches on a 26-point night by hitting a 20-foot fadeaway at the buzzer.

The Spurs have won three in a row against Milwaukee.
