Dooling, Bucks keep Wizards winless on road

Jan 20, 2011 - 7:00 AM Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Keyon Dooling scored a season-best 23 points as Milwaukee overcame a slow start to hold off Washington, 100-87, at the Bradley Center.

Corey Maggette supplied 21 points, five rebounds and four assists while Earl Boykins chipped in with 19 points, including a key three-pointer down the stretch for the Bucks, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Andray Blatche netted 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Nick Young chipped in with 21 points, six caroms and five assists for the Wizards, who have lost all 20 of their road games this season.

"It's frustrating," Wizards rookie guard John Wall said. "We don't want to go 0-41 [on the road]. That's embarrassing."

A Dooling triple put the Bucks ahead to stay at 62-60 midway through the third quarter.

Maggette hit a jumper and Boykins knocked down a mid-range shot and two free throws over the final 2 1/2 minutes of the period during a 6-0 burst to give the hosts a 75-66 edge heading into the final 12 minutes.

Two Dooling foul shots gave the Bucks a seemingly comfortable 90-74 edge with 4:46 to play before the Wizards ran off nine straight points to trim the lead to seven with 2 1/2 minutes left.

Boykins then drained a trifecta on the ensuing possession before a Dooling layup and Maggette three-point play pushed the lead to 98-83 with 1:35 to go.

"We're happy with the win, but we still have a lot of things we need to do better," said Bucks head coach Scott Skiles.

The Wizards held the hosts to 5-for-18 shooting from the floor in taking a 27-19 lead after the first quarter.

Washington led by as many as 12 early in the second quarter before the Bucks whittled the lead to 39-37 on a Dooling triple with five minutes left before the intermission.

The Bucks took a 47-46 lead prior to a three-point play from Blatche with 51.6 ticks remaining gave the visitors a 49-46 advantage at the break.

The Bucks have won seven of the last nine meetings...Dooling hit 9-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-4 from long distance...Maggette and Boykins combined to hit 14-of-15 from the line...Andrew Bogut added six points and nine boards in the victory...Blatche dropped 10-of-17 shots while Young went 9-for-19.
