Wizards aim for first road win in Okie City

Jan 28, 2011 - 4:27 PM (Sports Network) - The Washington Wizards will try again for their first win of the season as the guest when they kick off a four-game western trek tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Wizards are a league-worst 0-21 on the road in 2010-11 and have dropped 22 straight road contests dating back to last season. The NBA mark for most road defeats to start a season belongs to the Dallas Mavericks, who lost 29 straight to open the 1992-93 campaign. Washington's last win as the guest was a 106-96 triumph in Boston back on April 9, 2010.

Washington will also visit the Grizzlies, Mavericks and Hornets and have lost two straight overall and four of five contests, including Tuesday's 120-109 loss versus the Denver Nuggets in DC. Nick Young led the Wizards with 26 points, Andray Blatche scored 25 to go along with nine rebounds and JaVale McGee supplied 11 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

"Tough game tonight," said Wizards forward Rashard Lewis, who ended with eight points. "No defense in the end."

Rookie John Wall contributed 10 points and 13 assists. Wall leads all Eastern Conference rookies this month in scoring (13.8 ppg), assists (10.8 apg) and in double-doubles with eight. Wall has had at least nine or more assists in 12 of 13 games during the month. Young is averaging 23.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in his last nine outings.

McGee (illness) and guard Kirk Hinrich (elbow) are both questionable for Friday's game against the Thunder. Hinrich has missed three straight games.

Oklahoma City will try to extend its five-game home winning streak when it begins a three-game residency tonight versus the Wizards, Heat and Hornets.

The Thunder won for the sixth time in nine tries with Wednesday's 118-117 overtime triumph against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Twin Cities. Kevin Durant hit the go-ahead jumper with less than 30 seconds to go and reeled in a career-high 47 points and career-best 18 rebounds.

Jeff Green tallied 19 points and eight boards for Oklahoma City, which got 16 points and eight assists from Russell Westbrook.

"It was fun," Durant said. "It was fun to be a part of. They made some big plays and we made some big plays. It was a scrappy game. It's one of those games the fans hate to see end."

OKC is 16-6 as the host this season and is playing Washington for the first time since sweeping a home-and-home series a year ago. The Wizards are 10-5 in the past 15 matchups in this series.
