Holiday's triple-double helps Sixers swamp Nets

Feb 3, 2011 - 5:13 AM Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Second-year guard Jrue Holiday recorded his first career triple-double with 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, as the Philadelphia 76ers took down the New Jersey Nets 106-92.

Lou Williams added 26 points off the bench for the Sixers, who have won two in a row and five of six overall. Andre Iguodala chipped in with 16 points.

Elton Brand and Jodie Meeks each tallied 15 points for Philadelphia, which improved to 7-18 on the road this season. Brand also grabbed 10 rebounds.

"Every loose ball, every rebound, it just kind of came to me," Holiday said. "You saw Andre and Spencer (Hawes), you saw them running. If they're running, I'm going to pass it to them."

Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries and Devin Harris each had 16 points for the Nets, who have lost three of four.

New Jersey head coach Avery Johnson was ejected with 7:47 left in the third quarter after being hit with two technical fouls.

The Sixers were up by a 17-7 margin near the midway mark of the first quarter following a pair of free throws from Brand.

The Nets, though, responded with nine straight points to get within one, 17-16, on Ben Uzoh's layup with three minutes left. Philadelphia held a 28-26 margin after 12 minutes.

New Jersey ripped off seven straight points early in the second period to go in front. Humphries tallied five points during the stretch, including a hook shot with 7:55 remaining to make it a 35-34 game.

With the score tied at 38-38, Philly put together a 12-2 spurt. Iguodala's slam and jumper gave the 76ers a 50-40 lead. Holiday's trey prior to the half made it 53-44.

After Lopez made a hook shot to start the third, the Sixers went on a 16-2 run to create some distance. Meeks tallied 10 points during the burst that Iguodala capped with a reverse slam for a 69-48 margin with 6:44 remaining.

New Jersey fought back and got within nine, 75-66, on Johan Petro's hook shot with 36.5 seconds to go. But Williams responded with a three-point play at the other end to give Philly a 78-66 lead after three quarters.

The Nets never got closer than 11 in the fourth.

"On my way out, I told the guys we needed to pick it up. 'Just pick it up and play with more energy and passion.' That was my departing (message)," Johnson said. "We got it going a little bit, cut it to 9 or 11, but then they would make a big shot or get an offensive rebound or get on the break and score."

The Sixers have won seven straight overall versus the Nets...Philly went 18- of-18 from the foul line, while New Jersey went 15-of-20 from the charity stripe...The Nets were without guard Jordan Farmar (back)...Travis Outlaw and Anthony Morrow each had 10 points for New Jersey.
