Clippers and Raptors meet in Toronto

Feb 13, 2011 - 3:47 PM (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Clippers hope to bounce back from an embarrassing defeat when they resume a grueling 11-game road trip north of the border against the slumping Toronto Raptors.

The Clips fell to 1-4 on their trek Friday in Cleveland when Mo Williams returned to the court for the first time since Jan. 15, posting 17 points and 14 assists as the Cavaliers halted an NBA record 26-game losing streak with a 126-119 overtime victory against the Clippers.

"It is kind of bitter sweet, I'm glad it's over with," Cavaliers coach Byron Scott said. "If we would have played this hard last game we would have won."

The Cavaliers won for the first time since a 109-102 overtime decision against the New York Knicks on December 18. They also snapped an 11-game home losing streak.

Blake Griffin led Los Angeles with 32 points and 13 rebounds, while Baron Davis finished with 26 points and seven assists as the Clippers have lost for the fifth time in six games overall.

"[The Cavaliers] are a different team with their starting point guard," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. "We couldn't control the penetration they were using with him."

LA, which is a dismal 4-19 on the road this season, will finish its season- long trek with games in Milwaukee, Minnesota, Oklahoma City and New Orleans before returning to southern California to play the visitor against the Lakers.

The Raptors, meanwhile, continue to flounder and lost for the 16th time in 17 games on Friday when LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 of his 37 points in the second half and the Portland Trail Blazers pushed their winning streak to three games on with a 102-96 victory in Toronto.

Rudy Fernandez scored all of his 23 points in the first half to stake the Blazers to an early lead and they held on down the stretch for their sixth straight win against Toronto.

Andrea Bargnani scored 29 points to lead the Raptors, who are 0-2 on a four- game homestand which will conclude their residency against the Heat after tonight's contest. Jerryd Bayless added 18 points and DeMar DeRozan scored 17.

"We were pretty good till the six-minute mark of the fourth quarter," said Raptors head coach Jay Triano. "Things fell apart. They came with a small lineup."

Toronto has won four straight over the Clippers.
