Blazers wrap up regular season at Golden State
Apr 13, 2011 - 3:14 PM (Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers finish up their regular season in Oakland on Wednesday by taking on the Golden State Warriors. The Blazers clinched the Western Conference's sixth seed on Tuesday when LaMarcus Aldridge finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds as Portland topped Memphis, 102-89, in the Rose Garden.
"We got it done, we clinched," Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. "We were able to close it out and I think it's a great accomplishment."
Rudy Fernandez scored 18 in a reserve role while Nicolas Batum posted 16 points with five boards for Portland, which has won five of six overall.
The Trail Blazers have to await Wednesday's games to decide their first round opponent, however.
Dallas is the most likely opponent but the Lakers could drop to No. 3 if they lose at Sacramento and the Mavericks defeat New Orleans, while the Thunder might earn the spot with a win and a Dallas loss.
The Warriors, meanwhile, will be finishing up their fourth straight season with a postseason berth.
Golden State lost its second straight game in Denver on Monday when nine of the 10 Nuggets players who saw action reached double digits as Denver took a 134-111 decision at Pepsi Center.
Stephen Curry, despite spraining his right ankle in the fourth quarter, and Dorell Wright each scored 27 points for the Warriors, who were playing without leading scorer Monta Ellis (concussion).
"They are well-balanced and one of the most talented teams in the league from top to bottom on the roster. It is tough to prepare for them because anyone can go off on any night," Curry said.
Both Curry and Ellis, who is averaging 24.1 points, 5.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds, are likely to sit out the season finale as a precaution.
Golden State has taken two of three games from Portland this season. The Blazers have lost 10 of 11 contests at the Warriors.
