Marshall routs East Carolina 100-49

Feb 7, 2010 - 3:17 AM HUNTINGTON, W.Va.(AP) -- Tirrell Baines scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half as Marshall routed East Carolina 100-49 on Saturday night to end a five-game skid.

The Thundering Herd (16-7, 5-4 Conference USA) outscored the Pirates 67-28 in the second half and reached 100 points for the fourth time this season while holding East Carolina to its lowest point total of the year.

Marshall scored 33 points off 22 turnovers.

Tyler Wilkerson added 17 points for the Thundering Herd. Hassan Whiteside and Chris Lutz had 15 each, with Whiteside scoring 14 after the break and Lutz 13.

Marshall shot 65 percent from the field (26-for-40) in the second half and 55.9 percent (38-for-68) for the game.

East Carolina made 12 of 48 field goal attempts (25 percent) and was 8-for-31 (25.8 percent) in the second half.

Darrius Morrow and Brock Young scored 11 each for the Pirates (7-16, 1-8).
