San Diego outlasts Florida A&M 74-64
Jan 4, 2010 - 4:22 AM SAN DIEGO(AP) -- Brandon Johnson scored 23 points and became San Diego's all-time assists leader as the Toreros outlasted Florida A&M 74-64 Sunday night.Roberto Mafra and Chris Lewis each added 17 points for San Diego (7-9), and Matt Dorr had 10.
Dale Hughes scored a team-high 17 points for the Rattlers (2-11), and Christopher Walker had 13.
Johnson had seven assists to reach 468, surpassing David Fizdale, who had 465 from 1992-96.
Mafra scored eight straight points for San Diego after Florida A&M had pulled to within 52-50 midway through the second half.
The Toreros built a 40-21 lead with 3:26 left in the first half before the Rattlers closed the half on a 15-2 run, highlighted by a four-point play by Hughes with 3.2 seconds left.
