Washington St. looks to keep up strong defense against Air Force

Nov 25, 2007 - 2:41 PM Air Force (5-1) at No. 9 Washington St (5-0) 5:30 pm EST

SPOKANE, Washington (Ticker) - Ninth-ranked Washington State has been winning games with defense this season.

The Cougars try to limit the opposition once again on Sunday when they host Air Force in the Cougar Hispanic College Fund Classic.

Washington State held Mississippi Valley State to just 26 points during its last game on Saturday, the fewest points it has allowed since surrendering 23 to Idaho in 1948.

The Cougars have allowed over 70 points just once in their first five games and have held opponents under 56 points in the other four.

Air Force is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 59-57 loss to Montana on Saturday. The Falcons had scored at least 67 points in their first three games before being held to fewer than 59 points in their last three.
