Butler looks to bounce back
Feb 5, 2009 - 11:20 AM No. 11 Butler (19-2) at Detroit (6-15), 8:00 p.m. ESTButler hopes to get back on the winning track on Thursday when it visits Detroit in a Horizon League contest.
The 11th-ranked Bulldogs (19-2, 10-1 Horizon) had their 21-game league winning streak snapped on Monday, falling to Wisconsin-Green Bay, 75-66.
The loss ended an 11-game run overall for Butler, which had allowed less than 60 points in seven straight games prior to the setback.
Freshman Gordon Hayward is scoring 13.4 points per game to lead the Bulldogs. Matt Howard is a close second at 13.3 per contest.
Detroit (6-15, 1-10) finally earned its first league win of the season on Saturday, posting a 68-64 overtime victory at Youngstown State.
Thomas Kennedy is averaging 12.6 points per game to lead the Titans, who are 3-5 at home this season.
Butler won the first meeting, 54-50, and is looking to sweep the season series for the third straight season.
