Vaughn, Rutgers edge LSU in defensive struggle
Nov 25, 2007 - 10:35 PM PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Kia Vaughn scored 13 points as No. 7 Rutgers won a defensive struggle over fifth-ranked Louisiana State, 45-43, on Sunday.Heather Zurich made a jumper with 2:04 left to give the Scarlet Knights (3-1) a 44-42 lead.
After the teams traded one free throw, Quianna Chaney's 3-point attempt missed with six seconds to play.
Neither team shot 40 percent for the game in a rematch of last season's Final Four matchup - which Rutgers also won, 59-35, last April.
Chaney had 16 points and Sylvia Fowles added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers (4-2), who have lost two out of three.
